Final Images

After hours of editing and narrowing down my images I have decided on these 5 images to be my final 5 for the editorial. As I have chosen to do the piece for Self Service I chose to use images that were close up, detailed shots of the accessories to reflect the style of the magazine. Although I am happy with my images I now feel I could of pushed the idea more and practised some location images.

Sample Images: Layout 3

This layout is concentrating on the accessories and spices without using any of the main props featured in the previous images. I found mixing the two jewellery pieces clashed badly and the colour scheme was too similair.

For this scene I used a plain white background and different props/pieces...

Sample Images: layout 1

These images are starting points for my still life, experimenting with layouts and props and which pieces work well together...

I found the scarf as the background was too harsh for the image and took the focus away from the accessories. The props were also too much of a distraction to the image.

Self Service

I have chosen to style my still life for an editorial in Self Service, a Paris-based fashion and culture biannual. This is a magazine (more like a hard back book) which I have been collecting for a couple of years now and find the layout of their pages really interesting and different to most fashion publications. They use a lot of really close up shots to show only certain details of the accessories and clothing pieces they use.

Jigsaw

For my jigsaw I wanted to add the extra depth of the gold and the black to link with Persian style of the jewellery. I sourced a floral jigsaw and then spray painted the pieces in gold and black.

Prop Ideas: Mirror

I found this  gold antique mirror in a charity shop for £10!! I will use it as a base for my accessories to mix in with the scales in the previous images.
